Inspired by my recent visit to the Maui Lani Golf course Koi fish pond I wanted to capture the movement of the water as the fish swam slowly. I have been painting Koi Fish and water reflections for many years. This piece captures the soft peach and orange Koi fish against dark blue water reflections. In this oil painting, realistic fish are surrounded by intricate patterns that create an atmosphere in which the subject seems to push forward into reality. The patterns of gentle brush strokes stir the background and transforms the viewer into a world where color vibrates and movement flows.
